2011 Fort Knox Protector series gun safes are built with a 1-3/4" reinforced fire door. Featuring a 1/4" steel plate, 2 layers of 5/8" fireboard and 10 gauge steel. The Protector series gun safe is a uni body safe constructed of 10 gauge steel.There are a total of 13 active locking bolts measuring 1 ½" in diameter. The bolts are located on all four sides of the door. The options availble on a Fort Knox safe are like no other brand: corner bolts, added inner steel liners, just to name a few. Reinforced Fire Door
Fort Knox gun safe doors are unlike any other gun safe door. The Protector Series Fort Knox Reinorced Fire Door measures 1-3/4" thick. Starting from the interior is a solid 1/4" thick steel plate then 1-1/4" thick fire protective material, then the outer most layer is reinforced with an additional 10-gauge steel for added security. This is over two times more steel than most other composite doors.
